Everyone has had days where they get mad at a teacher, but these three girls took their anger to a whole new level.
After being sent to the principals office for pouring glue into another students backpack and for suspicion of stealing a laptop by her teacher Jane Morgan, 12-year-old Marjorie Garrido-Herrera decided she was going to seek revenge.
The following day, Marjorie brought in hot crushed red pepper flakes with the intention of pouring them into Morgan’s soda can. She enlisted the help of two friends to achieve her goal. Leisy Llanes-Pupo poured the flakes into the soda can after Marjorie took it from Morgan’s desk, while Cristal Tejeda-Castro distracted the teacher so she wouldn’t see what was happening.
After drinking some of her drink, Morgan’s throat immediately became hot and scratchy. She began to choke and had shortness of breath, and suffered stomach pains that lasted into the evening. After taking a second sip of her drink, Morgan poured the contents into a plastic cup and saw the red flakes in the liquid.
Police were informed of the incident and after some investigating the three girls were arrested. Two of the students, Marjorie and Leisy, are being charged with poisoning food or water and tampering with consumer products. Cristal is being charged with tampering with consumer products and being a principal to poisoning food or water. All of the charges are felony offenses.
Morgan told WFTV Channel 9 that she nearly died from an allergic reaction to the flakes and had this to say in a statement, “My students and I are very close. For the sake of education, for the sake of my school, other teachers in the classroom, and for the sake of themselves, children need to know there is a right and a wrong. This is Illegal. I could have died.”
Morgan was only doing her job and was retaliated against for upholding her duties as a teacher. It’s one thing to be mad because you got caught doing something wrong, and a whole other thing to try and harm your teacher.
