BREAKING NEWS! 1 OFFICER SHOT AT U.S. CAPITOL VISITOR CENTER

BREAKING NEWS in Washington D.C. as emergency crews were dispatched to the U.S. Capitol building as an active shooter was reported on the East side of the Capitol building today. According to the U.S. Capitol Police, the shooter is in custody. The original report said that an officer was shot, however, the U.S. capitol police officer was NOT shot, nor was any police officer injured in this exchange of gun fire. Investigations are under way to determine if this was a terror attack or an isolated incident. No other injuries were reported at this time but there was rumors of people injured from bullets that ricocheted and the building in under lock-down until the police can determine rather or not there are more shooters in the area.

The Police officer shot and injured the suspect who had brought a weapon into the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center in Washington D.C. Reports are saying that the suspect pointed a gun at a police officers and the officer shot the man and wounded him, but not seriously. Another person received minor injuries from flying debris. The suspect went through the metal detector and set off the alarms. The suspect then pulled out a gun and that is when the officer shot and wounded him. The suspect was taken to the hospital were he will be treated for his injury and then placed under arrest.

It was originally reported that a police officer was shot during the confrontation but it was just speculation at the time. No officer was injured during this ordeal and because of the intense training that the police go through, and the officers prompt response to the situation, nobody other than the suspect was injured. The U.S. Capitol complex was locked down until 3:45 p.m. today, after which it was only open for official business. Visitors were turned away from the Capitol as emergency vehicles flooded the streets. People inside the building were laying on top of their children to protect them from any harm. They have surrounded a silver Dodge Ram Pick-up truck with Tennessee plates but it is still unclear what that has to do with the incident.
