33 Cities Cheated On Water Tests For Lead, Is Yours One Of Them?

Investigation reveals that testing regimes similar to that of Flint were in place in major cities including Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia.  At least 33 cities across 17 US states have used water testing “cheats” that potentially conceal dangerous levels of lead, a Guardian investigation launched in the wake of the toxic water crisis in Flint, Michigan has found.

Of these cities, 21 used the same water testing methods that prompted criminal charges against three government employees in Flint over their role in one of the US’ worst public health disasters.

The crisis that gripped Flint is an extreme case where a cost-cutting decision to divert the city’s water supply to a polluted river was compounded by a poor testing regime and delays by environmental officials to respond to the health emergency.

The Guardian’s investigation demonstrates that similar testing regimes were in place in cities including Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit and Milwaukee.

Thousands of documents detailing water testing practices over the past decade, despite warnings water departments in 33 cities have underestimated the lead levels found in drinking water.

This should come as no surprise to most that they are manipulating lead levels in the water. I am sure the more we look into this problem we would find more than lead in the drinking water. For them to fix a problem like this cost money and that would require the city to make cutbacks on their spending in other areas. As you may know most officials become accustom to a certain way of life, especially when it comes to spending taxpayers money.

They learn to hide certain problems, just sweep them under the rug, hoping that by the time they are found someone else will be in office. That way it will be their problem and they can continue to live as they want. They never give one thought to the people they are hurting along the way, the children and the elderly they are exposing to the lead in the water. Or whatever else may be in the drinking water.

All the health problems that their cover-ups are causing their constituents. I believe a full investigation needs to be done all across the country, with none of it being at the taxpayers expense. We need to know what is in our drinking water, and who is responsible. To date only cities east of the Mississippi river have been investigated.

Here is the list of the cities to date that have manipulated lead levels in drinking water testing!
